Best Western Glengarry is looking for four (4) Chefs who are passionate for food; creative with new dishes; menu engineering and who can coach a team of cooks. Our ideal candidates should have hands on management style and be able to work on the floor while managing a team in a large kitchen, serving a restaurant, a lounge and a banquet facility that can host events up to 600 guests.

Job Duties:


·         Plan daily food preparation activities, based on the special events, promotions and guest requests;

·         Manage daily breakfast preparation and serving for Hotel Guests;

·         Consult Banquet Manager, regarding event requirements and dietary restrictions;

·         Estimate food supplies required and place order with appropriate suppliers;

·         Ensure Food Quality and Safety Standards are maintained;

·         Maintain food cost within acceptable range;

·         Maintain Kitchen labour cost within acceptable range;

·         Interview, Hire and train staff;

·         Design new Menus, based on season and guest requests;

·         Prepare and cook food on day to day basis, as required, and

·         Take the time to speak with guests and ask for feedback.


Job Type: Permanent, full –time


Language of work: English language


Wage: $18 to $22 per hour, depending on experience and qualification


Benefits: Medical Plan offered by Employer, based on 50/50 cost sharing basis

Skills requirements:

·         4 to 5 years of Culinary Experience;

·         Cooks trade certificate or equivalent credentials are required;

·         People management skills;

·         At least completion of Secondary School;

·         Red Seal endorsement will be preferred;

·         Physical Requirements require ability to stand for long periods of time, lift, carry, push and pull objects and supplies, and

·         Good Communication, with ability to speak and write English effectively
