About the position
The Assistant Manager is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operations of the store as assigned by the Store Manager. These duties include supervision of personnel, serving as manager in the manager’s absence, helping to meet sales and financial objectives, advertising and promotional planning, working on special projects, supervising inventory, merchandising, pricing, and facilitating communications between management and employees. The Assistant Manager performs all assigned tasks with sufficient speed and accuracy to support store efficiency and a high level of customer service.

Duties and responsibilities
• Manage staff and assign duties,
• Study market research and trends to determine consumer demand, potential sales volumes and effect of competitors’ operations on sales,
• Determine merchandise and services to be sold,
• Implement price and credits policies,
• Locate, select and procure merchandise for resale,
• Develop and implement marketing strategies,
• Plan budgets and monitor revenues and expenses,
• Determine staffing requirements,
• Resolve problems that arise, such as customer complaints and supply shortages,
• Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate daily operations,
• Recruit, hire and supervise staff and/or volunteers,
• Resolve work related problems,
• Organize and schedule office work,
• Establish and co-ordinate administrative policies and procedures
