Overview

Location: Maple Ridge, BC.

I have two children, who are aged 15 (male) and 11 (female) – they both have autism, the older is completely non-verbal and the younger is almost non-verbal.
Normal hours are Monday – Friday (mornings 0700 -1030) , (afternoons 1430 – 1730, except Wednesday, (1330-1730) average 30 -31 hours weekly but 40 hours per week optional.
Duties will include getting the children ready for school in the morning – breakfast, washing, dressing, putting the older on the school bus (which comes to the house).
Administer medications (if needed) ; Assist clients with bathing and other aspects of personal hygiene; Assist in regular exercise, e.g., walk;
Assume full responsibility for household (in absence of householder); Feed or assist in feeding; Launder clothing and household linens; Perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties; Provide companionship
Provide personal care; Prepare and serve nutritious meals; Administer first aid in emergency situations; help daughter with very simple homework – for example kindergarten level reading, spelling and maths.
Meet school bus when my son is dropped off in the afternoon.
Participate in any at home therapy sessions, with the therapist ( such as speech and physiotherapy).

Be with the children on any Pro-d days or school holidays when parents are working.

Minimum 1-2 years experience caring for pre-teen and teenagers with special needs.

Experience with autism and Down’s syndrome an asset.

Experience in use of AAC devices an asset.

Experience as a B.I or an SLP assistant an asset.

Weight handling – up to 120 lbs – this will NOT be lifting.
Must have a recent criminal record check.

No smoking of any kind, no drug use, no pets. free single accommodation is available, private bathroom, internet, smart TV.

MUST speak and write fluent English.
