Summary of position:

We are actively looking for an experienced Information Clerk Supervisor. You will be handling communication between plants and customers. Track fill rates, missed deliveries and pickups, etc. A good candidate is a multitasker with great time management and attention-to-detail. Manage other information clerks in a courteous manner to ensure smooth running of communication between plants and customers.

Job Duties

·         Request release #, create Worksheet.

o   Enter order into CieTrade, enter price as determined from Logistics Manager and freight rate.

·         Arrange transportation of commodities when necessary

·         Communicate with Plants and Customers confirmation of orders.

·         Schedule delivery and pick up appointments for Arrow Road Campus

·         Create and distribute Invoices for International outbound loads.

·         Upon receipt of paperwork {work order/ scale ticket packing slip), validate scale ticket to ensure correct information. Once confirmed, upload back up into CieTrade for customer service.

·         Follow up with Customer Service regarding daily missed pickups and shipments.

·         Track fill rates, including missed pickups, missed delivery appointments and cancellations

·         Monitor pickup/drop offloads to ensure driver wait times are minimized or within contractual obligations.

·         Based on incoming materials and operational schedule, provide daily forecast to operations of anticipated volume by plant by grade and by release #

·         Manage and monitor forecast to ensure it is followed by operations and communicate any deviation in a timely manner to allow time to inform customers, re-evaluate and adjust schedule accordingly.

·         Interacts with customers, customer service department, sales, & Operations staff reporting to Operations Manager

·         Resolve work related problems -prepare and submit orders within our custom software

·         Requisition of supplies and materials

·         Ensure smooth operation of computer systems and equipment used by department

·         Responsible for overall plant safety and assuring that all staff are trained and comply with GFL Health and Safety Policy.

·         Assure that all staff and visitors to the plant are wearing the appropriate safety gear when in the plant and have been trained in the correct use.

·         Report any accident to the Operations Manager immediately. Include the filling out of all forms with regards to accident investigations and recommendations.

·         Manage staff in a professional and courteous manor

·         Attend safety committee meetings and follow up on action plans

·         Attend meetings at the corporate office as requested.

·         Conduct occasional plant tours as requested



·         University degree or College Diploma in Business Administration or related discipline is preferred.

·         Previous Waste Industry experience relating material grading, a must,

·         Strong relationship and interpersonal skills.

·         Ability to work without supervision.

·         Resolving conflict multi-tasking

·         Ability and openness to training and learning about our business.

·         Excellent communication skills in oral and written.

·         Exceptional computer skills and competency.

·         Competent working knowledge of Microsoft office, excel, word, power point and outlook.


Job Specific Hazards:

•       Temperature – dress according to the weather as there is no climate control at workstation.

•       Dusty environment – dust masks are available to be worn as required.

•       Eye injuries could occur due to various items on the sort line ie. glass. Safety glasses must be worn at all times.

•      Forklifts/bobcats are a hazard when traveling throughout the plant. Be aware of your surroundings and always wear high visibility clothing.

•      Trip hazards are present in your workstation and throughout the plant. Be sure to keep your workstation clean and neat at all times.

•       Trucks could move from dock if wheel chocks are not in place while loading/unloading.

•       There are potential fall hazards in the shipping area if material is not stacked neatly/securely.

•       Noise {hearing protection required where posted)

General Rules:

•       The use of personal cell phones and any other electronic equipment is not allowed.

•      Long hair must be confined as per Occupational Health and Safety Act Section S3 {1} when required to enter the plant.

•      The wearing of jewelry (ie rings, watches, necklaces and dangling ear rings) is not allowed in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act Section 83 (2) when required to enter the plant.

Employees are required to follow all Canada Fibers Ltd. rules and regulations failure to do so could result in disciplinary action. This includes all Health and Safety standards as outlined by GFL Environmental.
