NOC 22210 – Junior Designer

We are presently looking for energetic and outgoing architecture graduates to join our team in the role of Junior Designer.

GPA will rely on junior staff to assist and provide drawing support to more senior staff. Under their direction, they will prepare detailed specifications, drawings, and architectural design plans for buildings and structures in conformity with project requirements. They are encouraged to expand their knowledge of other jobs within the firm to keep up to date on new concepts, designs and technology.

Qualifications:

To be the successful candidate you will have a strong commitment to design excellence and execution and strong skills in the production and co-ordination of contract documents with annotated and dimensioned drawings.

Ability to demonstrate a minimum 1-year professional experience working on a variety of project types is required.

Professional experience in Site Analysis, Site Surveys, and producing drawings for SPA (Site Plan Approval) Process is preferred but not required.

Knowledge of common Building Codes and Regulations, including fire safety, accessibility (ADA compliance), and zoning laws is preferred but not required.

You must have excellent communication and client presentation skills, project coordination and time management skills with proven example.

You must have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in architecture, architectural science or architectural technology.

You must be proficient in REVIT, Sketchup, Bluebeam, 3dsMax, Lumion.

You must be fluent in English, speaking and writing.

You must be eligible to work in Canada as a Citizen or Permanent Resident, or asylum seekers with valid work permits in Canada.

 

Project Level Responsibilities – 100%:

Design/ Technical

•       Performs design tasks to assist architectural team;

•       Gathers and organizes site and building information;

•       Prepares graphic drawings, diagrams for presentations and reports

•       Supports, assists and works along side senior architectural staff in:

•         Development and conception of architectural designs including research and resolving technical and design issues;

•         Production of compelling design development work;

•         Production of 3D models including digital and physical models;

•         Production of drawings, specifications and construction administration tasks;

•         Site coordination and working with Contractors to solve construction and site issues;

•         Management and co-ordination of internal project deadlines and deliverables.

 

GPA offers competitive salaries that are commensurate with the candidate’s practical experience. The annual salary for this role is CAD $65,000.

This position is permanent, full-time. Employees are are required to work full-time in office, 7.5 hours/day and 37.5 hours/week, Monday to Friday.
