Overview

Green Lettuce Cuisine Ltd. is looking for 2 Cooks to join them asap.
Work Location: 1949 Kingsway, Vancouver, BC V5N 2T1
Terms of Employment: Permanent, Full-time (30 to 35 hours a week)
Wage: $24 to $30 per hour (based on experience)

Work Setting:  Indian-Chinese cuisine restaurant

Job Duties:

v   Collaborate with the restaurant management to develop and update the menu, ensuring it includes a variety of Indian-Chinese dishes.

v   Prepare ingredients for dishes, including chopping, slicing, marinating, and measuring.

v   Cook dishes according to established recipes and presentation standards, using traditional Indian and Chinese cooking techniques.

v   Monitor and maintain stock levels of ingredients, ensuring that there are enough supplies for daily operations.

v   Adhere to strict food safety and sanitation guidelines to maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment.

v   Keep the kitchen area organized and clean, including proper storage of ingredients and kitchen tools.

v   Be able to handle multiple orders simultaneously, ensuring that each dish is prepared and served in a timely manner.

v   Collaborate with other kitchen staff, servers, and management to coordinate orders and maintain smooth kitchen operations.

v   Pay attention to the visual appeal of each dish, as presentation is important in Indian-Chinese cuisine.

v   Train and supervise junior kitchen staff, such as line cooks and prep cooks, as needed.

v   Minimize food wastage and work efficiently to control food costs.

 

Job Requirements:

Education:  No formal education required but high school graduation would be an asset

Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience in similar setting is required

(Note: Applicants with culinary certificate or cooking diploma can be considered with less than 1 year experience)

Language: Must be functional in English. Functional in Chinese is an asset.

Essential Skills: Have a deep understanding of Indian and Chinese spices, herbs, sauces, and other essential ingredients used in the cuisine.

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities:  Fast-paced environment, must be able to work under pressure, standing for extended periods, repetitive tasks and attention to detail

Personal Suitability: organized, client focused, team player, able to use good judgement and reliable
