Overview

1.  Cook

Main job duties:

·       Set up and oversee buffets

·       Portion and cut fish, meat, shrimps, vegetables and other buffet food ingredients

·       Schedule and supervise kitchen helpers

·       Oversee kitchen operations

·       Inspect kitchens and food service areas

·       Maintain inventory and records of food

·       May clean kitchen and work area

·       Plan menus, determine size of food portions, estimate food requirements and costs, and monitor and order supplies

·       May hire and train kitchen staff

·       Other necessary duties as requested by owner

Requirements:

Completion of secondary school. Completion of an apprenticeship program for cooks or program in cooking is preferred. Experience is an asset.  Mandarin or Cantonese. Reliable and hard-working. Fast-paced and long-standing working environment. Physically demanding. Intention to work for a long time.

Job type: full-time, permanent, 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. Day shift, evening, weekends.

Salary and benefit: 15/hour, 22.5 after 48 hours/week.

14 days vacation or 4% of gross salary from the second year. CPP, EI, work safety and health insurance

 

2. Server

Main job duties:

·        Orders and serve orders to customers

·        Greet customers, present menus, make recommendations and answer questions regarding food and beverages

·        Describe menu items including daily specials for customers

·        Advise on menu selections

·        Take orders and relay to kitchen staff

·        Prepare and serve specialty foods following customer’s request

·        Serve food and beverages

·        Present bill to customers and accept payment

·        Clear and clean tables

·        Set up tables

·        Assist clients/guests with special needs

Requirements:

Completion of secondary school. Good English. Mandarin or Cantonese. Reliable and hard-working. Good at communication and amiable. Fast-paced and long-standing working environment. Experience is an asset. Can work for a long time.

3. Kitchen helper

Load bus pans and trays
Place dishes in storage area
Scour pots and pans
Package take-out food
Portion and wrap foods
Stock refrigerators and salad bars
Use manual and electrical appliances to clean, peel, slice and trim foodstuffs
Clean and sanitize kitchen including work surfaces, cupboards, storage areas, appliances and
equipment
Receive, unpack and store supplies in refrigerators, freezers, cupboards and other storage areas
Remove kitchen garbage and trash
Sharpen kitchen knives
Sweep, mop, wash and polish floors
Wash, peel and cut vegetables and fruit
Cut fish into steaks and fillets
Cut poultry into parts
Clean kitchen and work areas
Perform general cleaning duties (i.e. sweeping, mopping floors)
