Millhouse Resthome is actively looking to hire 6 Patient Care Aides for a Permanent, Full-Time Position to work at our location located at 14022 Thirdline, Acton, Ontario L7J 2L8 or our location located 34 Mill Street West, Acton, Ontario, L7J 1G4

Millhouse Resthome is a small community of individuals and families in Halton Hills and Acton, Ontario who have chosen to take shelter under the same roof – Our Home. We respect each other and help each other cope with the many stresses of daily life. There is room and board provided for eligible individuals and families. Our staff also provides meals and personal assistance as needed.

Wage & Hours: $21.00 per hour, minimum 30 – 40 hours per week plus overtime, when necessary, two days off per week (to be determined). Shifts: Early morning, Morning, Day, Evening, Night, Weekend, Flexible hours.
Job Duties:
· Assist RN in care of residents including taking vital signs, height and weight and managing record keeping.
· Assist residents in taking their own medication.
· Monitor mealtimes, observe and report
· Serve meal trays and feed patients
· Deliver messages, reports, requisitions, and specimens between departments
· Assist with the set-up and maintenance of traction equipment, cleaning or sterilizing equipment, maintaining, and repairing equipment, and assembling, setting-up and operating job-related equipment
· Supervise patients’ exercise routines
· Bathe, dress, and groom patients
· Administer first aid in emergency situations
· Accompany patients on outside recreational activities and perform other duties related to patient care and comfort
· Serve meal trays and feed patients
· Make beds and maintain patients’ room
· Transport patients in wheelchair
· Maintain inventory of supplies
· Overall reporting to the manager regarding health and safety of the residents at home.
Skills Required:
· 6 months to 1 year experience as a caregiver for the elderly is considered an asset
· A 6 month in class caregiver training course is considered an asset
· Excellent oral communication in English
Education & Credentials:
· Secondary school graduation certificate or equivalent experience required
· College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 3 months to less than 1 year is considered an asset
· First Aid Certificate is required
· CPR Certificate is required
· Health Care Aide Certificate is considered an asset
· Food Safety Certificate is considered an asset
· Criminal Record Check
