Title of Position: Patient Care Aide (NOC 33102)

Type of Position:  Permanent, full time

Vacancies:  1

Wage & Hours:  $20.00 per hour, 30 hours per week plus overtime, when necessary, two days off per week. Shifts: Early morning, Morning, Day, Evening, Night, Weekend, Flexible hours.

Job Duties:

·       Assist RN in care of residents including taking vital signs, height and weight and managing record keeping.

·       Assist residents in taking their own medication.

·       Monitor mealtimes, observe and report

·       Serve meal trays and feed patients

·       Deliver messages, reports, requisitions, and specimens between departments

·       Assist with the set-up and maintenance of traction equipment, cleaning or sterilizing equipment, maintaining, and repairing equipment, and assembling, setting-up and operating job-related equipment

·       Supervise patients’ exercise routines

·       Bathe, dress, and groom patients

·       Administer first aid in emergency situations

·       Accompany patients on outside recreational activities and perform other duties related to patient care and comfort

·       Serve meal trays and feed patients

·       Make beds and maintain patients’ room

·       Transport patients in wheelchair

·       Maintain inventory of supplies

·       Overall reporting to the manager regarding health and safety of the residents at home.

Skills Required:

·       Experience as a caregiver for the elderly is considered an asset

·       A 6 month in class caregiver training course is considered an asset

·       Excellent oral communication in English

Education & Credentials:

·       Secondary school graduation certificate or equivalent experience

·       First Aid Certificate is considered an asset

·       CPR Certificate is considered an asset

·       Health Care Aide Certificate is considered an asset

·       Food Safety Certificate is considered an asset

·       Criminal Record Check
