Overview

Position: Registered Early Childhood Educator, full-time, permanent

Qualifications:

  • Early Childhood Education Diploma
  • Membership with the College of Early Childhood Educators, in good standing
  • Valid Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Valid First Aid and CPR certificate
  • online training courses (WHMIS, Worker Safety, Integrated Accessibility) – to be completed upon hiring
  • Food Handlers Certificate – to be completed upon hiring

Experience: 1 to less than 7 months

Education required: College/CEGEP, or equivalent

Salary: $24.86/hr, 35 hours per week

The Early Childhood Educator reports to and works with the Executive Director and/or Program Supervisor to provide a high quality program in accordance with the policies approved by the Board of Directors and the Program Statement. However, all Educators shall work together with a team approach.

Educator Responsibilities:
– To follow ECE Code of Ethics at all times.
– To plan a developmentally appropriate curriculum following the principles of HDLH and
ELECT that will ensure that all children are guided in their physical, social, cognitive and
emotional development.
– To attend regularly scheduled team and staff meetings
– To participate in the preparation of the program environment and room arrangement as
required and to assist in program planning and reflective practices.
– To treat each child with dignity, respect, warmth and care.
– To integrate children into the program.
– To supervise the children and to guide them in their physical, social, emotional and
cognitive development
– Light housekeeping duties (i.e. disinfecting, cleaning of toys and equipment, laundry/kitchen duties).
– To follow all health and safety protocols, procedures, and policies
– To be aware of and ready to implement basic First Aid techniques and health precautions.
– To maintain a professional relationship with parents at all times.

We are a licensed, non-profit child care program operating Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., 12 months of the year.
