Overview

Child Care Caregiver, Bilingual English-Italian

Home child care provides care for children on an ongoing or short-term basis, and is responsible for caring for the well-being and physical and social development of children, assist parents with child care and assists with household duties. He/she provides care primarily in our own home, where the children reside, and is employed by private households and child-care agencies, or they may be self-employed.

Main Duties & Employment conditions

·        Supervise, look after and care for our own 2 children (aged 14 and 9 years old) in employer’s residence;

·        Bathe, dress and feed children;

·        Plan, prepare and serve meals for children and may perform other duties as requested

·        Housekeeping duties as required;

·        Oversee children’s activities e.g. meals, rest periods, homework;

·        Maintain a safe and healthy environment in the home;

·        Instruct children in personal hygiene;

·        Tend to the emotional well-being of children and support their social development;

·        Provide age-appropriate educational training through organized activities such as games, crafts, reading and outings – sports, after school activities,

·        Bilingual – English & Italian – can help children with Italian informal language conversations

·        Take children to and from school and appointments;

·        Keep records of daily activities and health information regarding each child

·        Other activities as needed

·        Live-in Live-out optional

·        The maximum daily work hours (10 hours), and maximum weekly work hours (45 hours), and minimum weekly pay (20 hours).

·        At least 2 days off (preferably 2) per week, as well as the opportunity to take part in religious worship as needed.

·        2-week paid vacation after the completion of every 6 months.

·        Bilateral termination agreement of at least 4 weeks written notice

·        Relocation costs covered by employer

·        Detailed expectations of the arrangement, including a written explanation of the weekly or daily routine, precise duties, time-off and advice on handling our children will be discussed in detail at start of engagement, and on a weekly basis as required.

·        The familiarization period of at least 1 month will be given to adjust to new surroundings and responsibilities

Requirements

Bi-lingual Italian & English speaking, possibly university languages student seeking international cultural experience. Completion of secondary school required. Child care, household management and/or waiting experience advantageous. Demonstrated ability to perform work is required. Clean driver’s license.
