Title of Position: Cook

Tatchan Noodle is looking for a full-time Cook with experience in cooking Okinawa Noodle (Soba)

Employer:  Tatchan Noodle

Location of Work: 9015 Shaughnessy St., Vancouver, British Columbia, V6P 6R9 Canada

Terms: Permanent Full-Time 30 hours a week

Salary: $18.50 per hour

Job Duties:

•        Food preparation and cooking

•        Preparation and cooking of Okinawa Noodle (Soba) to menu requirements

•        Set up kitchen supplies and cooking utensils in commercial central kitchen

•        Transferring cooked food items from central kitchen location in Vancouver BC, to food cart location in Vancouver BC

•        Supervise and schedule kitchen helper

•        Train kitchen staff for food preparation and cooking

•        Keep cleanliness and tidiness of kitchen facilities and work area

•        Ensure kitchen operation meets time schedule and efficiency

•        Keep active inventory of cooking ingredients and food supplies

•        Maintain efficient operation of kitchen utensils and equipment

 

Skills and Experience Required:

•        1 year to less than 2 years of cook experience.

•        Skills and experience in cooking Okinawa Noodle (Soba), understanding texture and consistency of Soba.

•        Skills in preparation of meat and soup broth for Okinawa Soba.

•        Experience in utilizing precise temperature and method of cooking  for desired meat tenderness, texture and consistency.

•        Experienced in Japanese cooking and culinary culture

•        Good communication skills to be able to interact with customers at food cart location to build rapport and obtain feedback for improvement

•        Valid FOODSAFE certificate is required

 

Language:  Proficiency in spoken and written English is required. Japanese an asset.
