Overview
Treo Interior Contractors Inc., a busy construction and renovation company based in Delta, B.C., is seeking two (2) professional Carpenters for their projects throughout Greater Vancouver and the Lower Mainland.
Permanent, full-time; $34.62 per hour; 40 hours per week (8 hours per day on a shift schedule between 8 AM and 4:30 PM, Mondays to Fridays).
Duties:
· Follow blueprints and building plans to meet the needs of clients;
· Install structures and fixtures, such as windows, molding and siding;
· Measure, cut, or shape wood, plastic, and other materials;
· Construct building frameworks, including walls, floors, and door frames; help erect, level, and install building framework with the aid of rigging hardware and cranes;
· Inspect and replace damaged framework or other structures and fixtures;
· Instruct and direct laborers and other construction helpers;
· Locate, measure, and outline installation areas for fixtures, including partitions, doors, window frames, siding, cabinets, baseboards, etc.;
· Cutting and installing fixtures as listed above using the appropriate tools;
· Help erect, level, and install building framework with the aid of rigging hardware and cranes;
· Inspect and replace damaged framework or other structures and fixtures;
· Instruct and direct laborers and other construction helpers;
· Locate, measure, and outline installation areas for fixtures, including partitions, doors, window frames, siding, cabinets, baseboards, etc.;
· Cutting and installing fixtures as listed above using the appropriate tools;
· Accurately read, interpret, and apply blueprints, tape measures and chalking;
· Drilling holes, attaching brackets & other holdings using power tools;
· Installing siding using materials including hardi-plank, hardi-panel, hardi-shingles, cedar shingles, cedar tongue and groove siding, cedar lap siding, Fry Reglett and Easy trim metal reveal systems, metal corrugated siding;
· Soffit installation of tongue and groove products;
· Drilling holes through floor bolts and exterior of houses to secure siding and other joists;
· Applying rainscreen including papering, peel/stick, strapping flashing, caulking (both for aesthetics and waterproofing).
Required Skills/Experience:
· Completion of secondary school education is required;
· Completion of a three- to four-year apprenticeship program OR a combination of over two years of work experience in the trade and some high school, college or industry courses in carpentry is required;
· Expert knowledge in the usage and handling of power tools, air tools, and scaffolding, as well as other tools including hammer drills, nail pullers, nail guns, speed square, chalks, tin snips, hammer staplers, chisels, flashing benders, linesman pliers is an asset;
· A valid driver’s licence is required;
· May be required to travel to job sites throughout the Lower Mainland;
· English language ability is required.
