Job Duties
· Plan, organize and direct food preparation and cooking activities
· Supervise cooks, sous-chefs, kitchen staff and helpers
· Train and instruct cooks in preparation, of cooking, garnishing and presentation of food
· Ensure food meets quality standards
· Prepare and cook food on a regular basis, or for special guests or functions such as banquets
· Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances
· Create new recipes
· Plan menus, determine size of food portions, estimate food requirements and costs
· Inspect kitchens and food service areas
· Order food and kitchen supplies
· Maintain and monitor inventory, records of food costs, food consumption, sales and equipment
