MEDICINE HAT CARE COMMUNITY LTD. located at 1713 Strachan Road, Medicine Hat, Alberta T1B 0S9 is accepting applications for the position of LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE – LPN NOC 32101.
$32.00 per hour plus group health insurance, 35 to 40 hours per week, permanent, full-time, day, evening, night, weekend shifts.
Completion of Bachelor of Science in Nursing is required. Must be licensed as LPN in the province of Alberta to qualify to work. 2 to 3 years of work experience as a Nurse is required. Area of specialization in Geriatrics and Palliative Care is an asset. Ability to communicate in English is required.
Job description: Administer medication and observe and document therapeutic effects. Take vital signs, apply aseptic techniques including sterile dressing, ensure infection control, monitor nutritional intake and conduct specimen collection. Monitor respiratory therapy and intravenous therapy. Provide safety and health education to individuals and their families. Provide nursing services within defined scope of practice, to patients based on patient assessment and care planning procedures. Monitor patient’s progress, evaluate effectiveness of nursing interventions and consult with appropriate members of healthcare team.

HEALTH CARE AIDE – NOC 33102. This is a Nursing home/home for the aged in the rural community.
$23.00 per hour plus group health benefits (medical/dental, 35 to 40 hours per week, permanent, full-time, shift hours.
Completion of College or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years as Health care aide or Nursing Assistant is required. HCA certified with and active registration in the provincial HCA Directory is required. 7 months to less than 1 year work experience as HCA is required. Ability to communicate in English is required.
Job description: Serve meal trays and feed patients. Deliver messages, reports, requisitions and specimens between departments. Make beds and maintain patient’s room. Transport patients between care facilities. Take patient’s blood pressure, temperature and pulse. Weigh, lift and turn and position patients. Supervise patient’s exercise routines. Bathe, dress and groom patients. Transport patient in wheelchair or stretcher. Answer call signals. Collect specimens. Accompany patients on outside recreational activities and perform other duties related to patient care and comfort.
