Job Title:Retail buyer

Working Time:Monday – Friday (Days),30 hours weekly

Rate of pay:$29/hour

 

Job Responsibilities:

1. Product Selection: Identify and select merchandise that aligns with the company’s target market, brand image, and sales goals.

2. Supplier Management: Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers, negotiate terms and prices, and ensure timely delivery of merchandise.

3. Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels, analyze sales trends, and make purchasing decisions to optimize stock levels and minimize excess inventory.

4. Price Negotiation: Negotiate pricing, discounts, and terms with suppliers to ensure competitive pricing and maximize profit margins.

5. Market Analysis: Conduct market research and analysis to stay updated on industry trends, competitor offerings, and consumer preferences.

6. Sales Forecasting: Utilize historical sales data and market trends to forecast future demand and make informed purchasing decisions.

7. Promotions and Markdowns: Plan and execute promotions, markdowns, and clearance sales to drive sales and reduce excess inventory.

8. Collaboration: Work closely with the marketing, sales, and merchandising teams to develop strategies that align with overall business objectives.

9. Risk Management: Identify potential risks such as supply chain disruptions or changes in consumer behavior and develop contingency plans.

10. Compliance: Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and ethical sourcing practices.

 

Job Requirements:

1. Education: A bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, retail management, or a related field is typically required. Advanced degrees or certifications may be preferred.

2. Experience: Prior experience in retail buying, merchandising, or inventory management is essential. Candidates should have a strong understanding of retail operations and consumer behavior.

3. Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills are necessary to analyze sales data, interpret market trends, and make data-driven purchasing decisions.

4. Negotiation Skills: Excellent negotiation skills are crucial for retail buyers to secure favorable terms and pricing with suppliers.

5. Communication Skills: Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, are important for building relationships with suppliers and collaborating with internal teams.

6. Attention to Detail: Retail buyers must have a keen attention to detail to accurately analyze data, assess product quality, and manage inventory levels.

7. Creativity: The ability to identify emerging trends, anticipate consumer preferences, and develop innovative merchandising strategies is valuable in this role.

8. Time Management: Retail buyers must be able to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced retail environment.

9. Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, inventory management software, and other relevant tools is necessary for data analysis and inventory management.

10. Adaptability: The retail industry is dynamic, so retail buyers should be adaptable and open to change as market conditions evolve.
