Overview

Western Mechanical is seeking an experienced CAD Technician to join our Vancouver team.
Permanent, full-time; Salary starts at $62,400 annually ($32/hour over 37.5 hour work week).

 

Three weeks paid vacation. Additional benefits include medical and dental benefits with prescription drug coverage after three months; after one year of employment, enrolment in group RRSP with 2% employer matching contributions will be offered.

 

 

Duties & Responsibilities :

·      Create detailed 2D drawings of building floor plans and HVAC systems using AutoCAD software from field technician sketches, consultant drawings or existing similar drawings into easily understood schematics for use in reports to clients.

·      Liaison with consulting engineers to obtain the correct information prior to commencing work.

·      Create and update schedules related to the testing and balancing of field equipment.

·      Review shop drawings from consultants to confirm unit performance capabilities.

·      Convert technical notes to layman’s terms to enhance the end user’s understanding of issues or concerns noted.

·      Ensure the quality and accuracy of reports being produced.

·      Assist with other tasks as required to support field operations.

 

Qualifications:

·      Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a one- to two-year college program in drafting
OR
Completion of a three- to four-year apprenticeship program

OR

Four to five years of related experience plus completion of college or industry courses in drafting is required.

·      Strong skills in AutoCAD, Windows, Microsoft Office 365, and Adobe Acrobat is required.

·      Strong written and fluent verbal English is mandatory.
