Overview
Focused on new house roof and balcony waterproofing projects and old house roof and balcony renovation and located at Elgin Ave., Burnaby, BC, At Home Renovation Ltd. is looking for a Roofer, this position is full time, three-year term.
As a member of this fast-growing company and working in a fast-paced environment, the main duties of the Roofer include:
• Install, repair, and replace various roofing systems on residential and commercial buildings according to blueprints and specifications.
• Inspect and assess roof conditions to determine required materials and repair plans.
• Work with a variety of materials, including asphalt shingles, metal panels, rubber (EPDM), and single-ply roofing systems.
• Lay and repair roofing materials such as shingles, slate, and wood shakes.
• Install ice and water shields.
• Use hand and power tools such as hammers, pry bars, roofing nail guns, torches, and more.
• Ensure all work complies with building codes, safety standards, and manufacturer specifications.
• Clean work areas and dispose of old materials.
• Work safely and efficiently in a team environment and may supervise apprentices.
• Respond quickly to emergency situations to repair critical roof issues and perform necessary renovation.
Job Requirements & Qualifications:
• Education: High school diploma. Relevant vocational training or roofing-related certification is an asset.
• Experience: At least 2–3 years of work experience as a roofer.
• Licenses & Certificates: Roofing Torch Safety Training Certificate and completion of Fall Protection & Safety Monitor Training.
• Skills & Abilities:
o Ability to lift heavy materials and work at heights and in various weather conditions.
o Valid Class 5 driver’s licence with a good driving record; able to assist with driving company work vehicles.
o Strong safety awareness, good hand-eye coordination, and balance.
o Carpentry skills are an advantage.
o Strong attention to detail with the ability to produce high-quality work.
o Team player who can also work independently when needed.
o Highly reliable, punctual, and maintains a positive work attitude.
Work hours can include holidays, weekends, evenings according to fluctuating business levels.
Work 8 hours per day and 40 hours per week (overtime working is available). The wage is $37 per hour, with 10 days vacation pay.
