Overview

Job Duties:
– Preparing, monitoring and managing the production of various baked goods and desserts for the restaurant and café.
– Managing the pastry cook and other kitchen staff.
– Monitoring inventory levels and equipment to ensure adequate supplies.
– Ordering new supplies, ingredients, and equipment for the pastry department.
– Training staff in the preparation, baking and handling of food.
– Observing and testing food to ensure proper quality.
– Ensuring the adherence to proper hygiene and food safety standards.
– Assisting with the development of menu offerings.
– Portioning, arranging and plating food items.
– Setting up and maintaining work station with the necessary ingredients, tools, and equipment.
– Filling in for other chefs during their absence.

Employment Requirements:
– At least two (2) years of pastry-making experience in an upscale high-volume, full-service restaurant environment.
– Culinary arts education preferred.
– Foodsafe1 certification.
– Familiarity and appreciation of both classic and modern pastry production.
– Excellent knowledge of food industry standards including food handling, safety, and sanitation procedures.
– Exemplary leadership, management and personal skills.
– Scheduling flexibility, including the ability to work evenings, holidays and weekends.
– Ability to work efficiently, multi-task and perform well under pressure with a strong attention to quality and detail.
– Completion of secondary school.
– Satisfactory command of the English language.
– Ability to satisfy physically demanding nature of the role, including the ability to stand for long periods of time, lift up to 40lbs consistently, and frequently bend and twist.

– Starting at $25 per hour
– Full-time position (40 hours per week).
