Overview: We at Colonial Countertops are seeking a cabinetmaker’s helper to join our team in Victoria, BC. The ideal candidate will have some experience in woodworking and basic furniture finishing, along with a strong attention to detail. As a cabinetmaker helper, you will assist in the production process by supporting skilled tradespersons, helping prepare materials, and contributing to the overall quality and appearance of finished products under supervision.

Job Title: Cabinetmaker’s Helper (NOC 75110)

Wage: 25/hr for 40 hrs per week

Job Requirements:

Languages

·      English

Education

·      Minimum: Secondary Education diploma or GED

Experience

·      At 1 year to less than 2 years of work as a construction helper or any related field.

Duties:

·      Assist cabinetmakers by preparing materials and work areas for production

·       Load, unload, and move wood materials, tools, and equipment

·      Support assembly of cabinets and wood products under supervision

·      Perform basic sanding and surface preparation prior to finishing

·      Apply simple finishes such as stain or polish as directed

·      Assist with laminating and edge finishing tasks

·      Cut and prepare filler strips and materials for installation

·      Help with installation tasks such as holding components and positioning pieces

·      Clean, maintain, and organize the work area and tools

·      Dispose of waste materials and ensure a safe and tidy workspace

·      Follow safety procedures and use protective equipment properly

 

Work Settings:
