Daizen Joinery Ltd. is seeking 1 Carpenter lead hand to join us.

 

Permanent, Full-time; $37.00 per hour; 30-40 hours per week (plus extended health and dental benefits after completion of 3 months probation period) and bonus available based on performance.

 

Duties:

·      Read architectural plans and shop drawings to inspect if joinery details are feasible before proceeding with production;

·      Inspect the parts produced by the CNC, joinery details and the layout and provide finishing by hand;

·      Custom heavy woodworking;

·      Build solid timber stairs and structures;

·      Supervise and provide guidance to apprentices and other construction workers as required;

·      Prepare cost estimates and material lists for projects when needed.

 

Requirements:

·      Completion of secondary education is required;

·      College Diploma or certification in a recognized construction/carpentry course is preferred;

·      At least three years of previous experience in carpentry is required;

·      Must have professional knowledge of wood materials, methods, and the tools involved in the carpentry trade;

·      Able to work independently or in small teams;

·      Ability to lift heavy beams of timber;

·      Basic English language ability is required.
