Overview

East India Company Restaurant is seeking to hire 1 full-time, permanent Sweets Maker for shift, weekend, day and/or evening. Selected candidate must be reliable and able to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.

Duties will include:
– Cooking a large variety of Indian desserts – rasmalai, gulabjamun, kheer, burfi, halva, etc.
– Understanding the correct amount of sweets to make, in order to minimize waste;
– Maintaining a clean kitchen and work area;
– Preparing desserts for customers with food allergies or intolerances;
– Training staff in preparation of desserts;
– Maintaining inventory and records of food, supplies and equipment;
– Working with specialized cooking equipment (deep fryer).

Education level: Completion of high school an asset but not required.

Required skills: Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of experience cooking, specializing in East Indian sweets/desserts.

$19.50/hour

35 hours/week – shift, weekend, day and/or evening
