Evans Security Services Ltd. is currently seeking a permanent, full-time Security Systems Technician to join their team and support the installation, servicing, and maintenance of electronic security and life safety systems for its growing client base.
Job Duties:
– Install, configure, and service intrusion alarm systems, fire alarm panels, CCTV systems, access control systems, intercoms, and integrated security platforms.
– Perform system commissioning, including device enrollment, zone configuration, panel programming, and network integration.
– Diagnose and troubleshoot system faults at the panel, circuit, and component level using multimeters, signal testers, and manufacturer-specific diagnostic tools.
– Interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, riser diagrams, and technical manuals to isolate and resolve system deficiencies.
– Conduct testing and verification of devices including motion detectors (PIR), magnetic contacts, glass-break sensors, smoke/heat detectors, card readers, keypads, and control modules.
– Perform firmware updates, system expansions, and integration with IP networks, monitoring stations, and third-party automation platforms.
– Ensure installations comply with applicable electrical codes, fire codes, and industry standards.
– Complete detailed service reports, inspection documentation, and regulatory compliance records.
– Provide technical support to clients and training on system operation.
– Coordinate project tasks on-site.
Experience
– Experience with commercial and residential alarm/security systems and installations.
– Strong knowledge of low-voltage wiring, IP networking fundamentals, and system programming.
– Minimum 2-3 years of experience installing and servicing low voltage systems.
– Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
Specific Skills / Certifications Required:
– Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
– Familiarity with applicable safety standards and regulatory requirements.
– Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Minimum Education: College diploma or certificate in electrical and electronics engineering
Language: English
Wage: $39-42 per hour
