Overview
Gazda Mechanical Ltd. is seeking a qualified Sprinkler System Installer to install, maintain, and repair fire protection sprinkler systems in commercial, residential, and industrial buildings throughout Metro Vancouver.
Location: 102-8752 Centaurus Circle, Burnaby, BC V3J 7E7
Work locations vary throughout Metro Vancouver, BC
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Hours: 40 hours per week
Wage: $38.51 per hour
Overtime: Overtime paid in accordance with the BC Employment Standards Act
Duties and Responsibilities:
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine layout of sprinkler systems
Follow hydraulic calculation requirements and design specifications
Install steel and CPVC (Blazemaster) fire sprinkler systems
Cut, thread, groove, and connect piping using hand and power tools
Install sleeves prior to concrete pours and core through existing concrete as required
Install sprinkler heads, valves, controls, and related fittings in accordance with manufacturer specifications and applicable codes
Install fire pumps, jockey pumps, control panels, and underground piping connections
Install seismic sway bracing for earthquake protection
Adjust system layouts on site to ensure compliance with NFPA and applicable fire codes
Inspect, test, maintain, and repair sprinkler systems
Troubleshoot and replace defective components
Ensure all work is performed in accordance with safety regulations and company policies
Requirements:
Completion of secondary school is required
Completion of a recognized sprinkler fitter apprenticeship program OR minimum 2–3 years of related work experience as a sprinkler system installer
Trade certification (Sprinkler Fitter) is an asset
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints
Physically capable of lifting heavy materials and working at heights
English language proficiency is required
