HomeStar Projects Ltd. is seeking a Cabinetmakers Foreman to join our team.

Permanent, full-time (30-40 hours per week), $38.00 per hour.

Standard 8-hour shifts for this position could be scheduled anytime Mondays to Fridays between 7am and 3pm as required. The successful applicant will be expected to travel to various job sites across metro Vancouver.

Duties:

· Supervise, co-ordinate, and schedule the activities of workers on job sites and in the shop

· Read and interpret architectural drawings, shop drawings, and installation plans

· Ensure all installations meet quality standards, project specifications, and timelines

· Resolve work problems, provide technical advice, and recommend measures to improve productivity and product quality

· Train or arrange for training of workers

· Recommend personnel actions, such as hirings and dismissals

· Assemble, install, and finish Italian cabinets and custom millwork with accuracy and precision

· Perform detailed site measurements and make on-site adjustments and modifications as required

· Build custom cabinets and millwork in the shop according to drawings and specifications

· Shape surfaces or edges of wood workpieces, using hand tools, such as planes, chisels, wood files, CNC, table saws, and edge banding saws

· Safely operate all hand tools, power tools, and shop machinery

· Ensure standards and regulations for safe working conditions are observed

· Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment on job sites and in the shop

· Sand wooden surfaces and apply veneer, stain or polish to finished products

· Prepare specifications of custom-made cabinets that maximize storage

· Study plans, specifications or drawings of articles to be made

Qualifications:

· Secondary school completion is required;

· College diploma or certification in a recognized cabinetmaker course is preferred

· 3-5 years of previous work experience in cabinet and millwork installation is required

· Previous supervisory experience is required

· Must possess a valid driver’s licence and have access to reliable transportation for travel to job sites

· Must have strong attention to detail and precision workmanship

· Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team

· Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt on site

· Must have computer skills and be familiar with software applications such as Mozaik, Sketch-Up, CAD, and Microsoft Office

· Possession of a Skilled Trades certificate in BC is an asset

· Possession of a Red Seal as Cabinetmaker is an asset

· Must be able to lift 50 lbs (23kg)

· English ability is required.
