Overview
Position Summary:
The Quality Control Coordinator supports the consistent delivery of high-quality mass timber
products by coordinating daily quality workflows and ensuring compliance with testing and
operational standards. As a subject matter expert, this role monitors product performance,
documentation accuracy, and non-conformance resolution across our innovative mass timber
facility. With strong attention to detail and a focus on continuous improvement, the Quality Control
Coordinator helps maintain the craftsmanship and excellence that define Kalesnikoff’s industryleading
operations
Key Responsibilities:
Quality Standards & Compliance
• Ensure consistent implementation of company quality standards, policies, and standard
operating procedures (SWPs).
• Conducting root cause analysis for the non-conformances and providing resolution plan(s)
on the nonconformances. Working with the Finishing Supervisor to prioritize NC
remediations.
• Monitoring and managing the lumber grader (Goldeneye) production parameters, and
ensuring the lumber waste levels are maintained at the lowest levels.
• Ensure operational excellence in quality control, data management, inventory control and
manufacturing.
• Conduct daily quality control audits across operations.
• Ensure adequate corrective measures are implemented on a timely basis in cases of noncompliance.
• Observe systems and processes and provide recommendations for improvements.
• Assess and ensure we are maximizing value back to the company by performing regular
checks and providing recommendations on improvement opportunities.
Workflow Coordination & Process Support
• Coordinate daily quality control activities and workflow between production teams and
quality personnel to ensure operational effectiveness.
• Serve as a subject matter expert on QA processes and testing requirements, providing
guidance and procedural interpretation.
• Monitor and support adherence to quality-related key performance indicators (KPIs) and
communicate issues or trends to leadership.
• Ensure testing and inspection equipment, tools, and documentation required for quality
operations are available and properly maintained.
Safety & Continuous Improvement
• Promote safety by adhering to safe work procedures and reporting potential hazards in
collaboration with H&S.
• Observe production systems and provide recommendations to improve quality, safety, and
efficiency.
• Participate in identifying improvement opportunities that maximize value and minimize
waste within the quality function.
• Support the development and revision of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Safe
Work Procedures (SWPs).
• Perform additional quality-related tasks as required to support operational success.
Qualifications:
Education:
• Successful completion of post-secondary studies in forestry, wood science, or
manufacturing
• Class A Lumber Grading Ticket
Experience:
• Three (3) years of experience in quality assurance or control inspections in a mass timber
environment
• Experience with lumber grading
Skills & Knowledge:
• Experienced in Cadwork and Epicor ERP Systems
• Proficiency with Microtec Golden Eye optimizer
• Broad business acumen
• Demonstrated attention to detail
• Familiarity with wood products (CLT, glulam, LVL)
• Working knowledge of regulatory agency quality assurance/control activities
• Strong English communication skills, both verbal and written
• Receptive to change, can adapt to changing circumstances
• Proactive and focused on continuous improvement
Work Conditions
• On-site role
• Overtime as required
• Occasional exposure to dust, noise, and fumes when on production floor
• Occasional exposure to weather when visiting storage yard(s)
• Occasional stooping/bending/crouching, reaching, handling, finger dexterity, walking when
completing inventory management related tasks
• Very occasional use of ladders, or working at heights under 10’, when checking on project
inventory, etc.
• Use of Personal Protective Equipment will be required when entering production facility or in
yard(s) (e.g. hard-hat, safety boots, etc.).
• Desk work, with interruptions and an expectation of ability to refocus quickly
• Ability to occasionally lift 25 lbs
