Job title:

Assistant sushi cook/sushi cook

Tasks:

. Cook and mix rice independently to guarantee safety and taste
. Cut and prepare raw fish and make sure it meets the health standards
. Wash, peel, cut and prepare other ingredients using manual or electrical appliances
. Make, wrap, cut sushi. May pack and display sushi when needed
. Make party-tray and chicken-don and other food with or without supervision when necessary
. Maintain inventory and records
. Clean and sanitize kitchen including work surfaces, cupboards, storage areas, appliances and equipment when needed
. Handle and store cleaning products when needed
. Receive, unpack and store supplies in refrigerators, freezers, cupboards and other storage areas
. Sharpen kitchen knives
. May supervise kitchen helper
. Other duties as instructed by the owner
. For assistant sushi cook, some work needs to be done under supervision

Working environment: Fast-paced environment; Handling heavy loads; Repetitive tasks; Standing for extended periods; Early Morning, On Call, Shift, Weekend

Work location: 9256 Commercial St, New Minas, NS B4N 4A9( New Minas Sobeys); 9064 Commercial St, New Minas, NS B4N 3E4(New Minas Superstore); 470 Main St, Kingston, NS B0P 1R0 (Kingston Superstore).

Requirements:

Basic English communication skill; Recent related experience is an asset (sushi, dim sun, Japanese cuisine); Food handler certificate;  Own transportation; Valid driver license; Own car; clear police certificate; Hard-working; Dependability; Flexibility; Reliability; Time management

Salary: 16.5/hour plus bonus if applicable, 16-48 hours a week
