Overview

Pacific Energy Corporation (Canada) Limited (o/a “Pacific Energy” or “PECCL”) is seeking a full-time, permanent Investment Director to join their team.

 

Pacific Energy is a Canadian independent energy resources development company focused on meeting the increasing energy needs of the North American markets, and emerging Asian economies.  It develops, builds, owns, and operates cost-competitive projects through the energy supply chain while maintaining its role as a responsible corporate citizen.

Position

The Investment Director is an integral part of PECCL’s dynamic team. Now that the Woodfibre LNG Project is under construction, the addition of a new Investment Director position is timely. The Investment Director will serve a key liaison role amongst PECCL, Woodfibre Management Ltd., their subsidiaries, and the overseas members of the RGE Group and will ensure that the Canadian operations and projects are properly funded.

 

Reporting directly to the Executive Vice President of PECCL, the successful candidate will be responsible for identifying industries and emerging business trends to focus research on and develop long-term investment strategies for PECCL. It will evaluate and recommend investment decisions, in particular for bringing in potential suitable investors and partners to current operations and future new projects and acquisitions.

 

The Investment Director will also be responsible for developing new business in the energy midstream segment and leading M&A projects in the energy upstream segment, including green hydrogen, carbon credit storage units, hydro-power projects, etc.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

The successful applicant will:

·      Work with the Executive Vice President to formulate and refine the company’s overarching investment strategy, analyze alternative investments, and recommend appropriate investments including acquisitions, joint ventures, and strategically important relationships;

·      Conduct comprehensive analysis of existing and prospective investment opportunities by providing recommendations for improvement, identifying underperforming areas, benchmarking performance metrics, and suggesting corrective strategies to maximize returns;

·      Work with the Executive Vice President to develop clear, actionable investment policies, facilitate communication of these policies internally and externally to ensure alignment with stakeholders and maintain transparency;

·      Spearhead efforts to build and expand the Company’s network of strategic partners, with a strong focus on entities based in Asia-Pacific regions. Identify opportunities to leverage external capital, market knowledge, and regional expertise to enhance the company’s global presence and operational value;

·      Identify, and pursue funding from a diverse array of sources including venture capital firms, angel investors, and family offices. Prepare compelling investment pitches and materials tailored to various investor profiles;

·      Lead due diligence activities for all potential investment opportunities by conducting market research, financial analysis, risk assessment, and competitive positioning to ensure informed decision-making;

·      Lead the negotiation and finalization of investment deals by working with legal and financial advisors to structure deal terms that align with the company’s goals, mitigate risks, and foster long-term partnerships;

·      Oversee the end-to-end investment process from opportunity assessment through execution and integration.  Ensure all investment activity adheres to the company’s governance frameworks and policy standards.

 

Requirements:

·      A bachelor’s degree in commerce or related field;

·      10 or more years of experience in large- and complex multi-national companies, preferably in the energy sector;

·      Proven track record of fundraising for major investment projects and an established network of energy-related investors and strategic partners in the Asia-Pacific region;

·      Strong relationship management experience;

·      Exceptional business development and commercial experience;

·      Demonstrate strong negotiation, communication and analytical skills, and hands-on abilities;

·      Ability to think ahead, strategize, plan, and execute.

·      Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

·      Ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple tasks, targets, and changing priorities within tight time frames;

·      Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.

 

The position is based at the Vancouver office, with travel to the Houston project office as required.

 

Compensation:

·      Salary range: CAD $150,000 / year

·      Extended health and dental benefits.

·      Annual performance bonus, subject to successful review.

·      Paid time off, with a total of 15 paid vacation days per year.
