RR TRANSPORT SOLUTIONS located at 5504-129 Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta T5A 0C8 is accepting applications for the position of CLASS 1 TRUCK DRIVER. $36.00 per hour, permanent, full-time, 40 hours per week, plus group insurance benefits (50/50 share on premium) after 6 months.
Completion of secondary education plus other trades certificate or diploma in the trade is required. Credentials required: Air Brake (Z) endorsement, Defensive driving course, Class 1 drivers license and Forklift operator certification required. 3 years to 5 years of work experience as a class 1 truck driver is required. Ability to communicate in English is required.
Job description:
Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioning system (GPS) equipment, or other navigation devices, to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions. Address customer’s complaints or concerns. Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy. Drive lighter, special purpose trucks. Load and unload goods. Obtain special permits and other documents required to transport cargo on international routes. Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials. Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment. Perform brake adjustments. Perform emergency roadside repairs. Receive and relay information to central dispatch. Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption. Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo. Pay and receive payments for goods.
