Overview

Position Summary
We are looking for a detail-oriented and driven Staff Accountant to join our professional team. The successful candidate will play a key role in preparing financial statements, corporate and personal tax returns, and assisting with client advisory and year-end engagements. This role is ideal for individuals pursuing their CPA designation and looking to gain diverse experience in public practice.

Key Responsibilities
·         Prepare working papers and financial statements for Compilation engagements

·         Prepare corporate tax returns (T2), personal tax returns (T1), and trust returns (T3)

·         Assist in the preparation of HST/GST filings, payroll filings, and other government remittances

·         Perform account reconciliations and analysis of general ledger accounts

·         Liaise with clients to collect documentation and clarify financial and tax information

·         Maintain accurate and organized client files in accordance with firm standards

·         Support senior staff and partners with year-end and special advisory projects

·         Assist with CRA correspondence and audits under guidance

·         Stay up-to-date with changes in tax legislation and accounting standards

·         Prepare fixed asset depreciation and accruals

·       Provide financial status information by preparing special reports, completing special projects

·       Correct errors by posting adjusting journal entries

Qualifications
·         Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field

·         Enrollment in or intent to pursue CPA designation

·         2-3 years of experience in a public accounting firm preferred

·         Strong working knowledge of Caseware, TaxCycle, QuickBooks, and Microsoft Excel

·         Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills

·         Ability to manage multiple client files and meet deadlines during peak seasons

·         Strong communication and interpersonal skills
