We are currently recruiting a Maintenance Worker.

 

Position Profile

· Perform minor repairs and adjustments to the restaurant’s heating, cooling, ventilation, plumbing, and electrical systems, including walk-in coolers, refrigeration units, and kitchen exhaust/ventilation systems; arrange for licensed tradespersons when major repairs are needed

· Troubleshoot and carry out basic repairs on kitchen equipment such as stoves, ovens, fryers, and dishwashers, escalating to a technician or manufacturer service when specialized repair is required

· Carry out general maintenance tasks including painting, drywall patching, and general upkeep of the restaurant’s dining area, kitchen, washrooms, and exterior

· Track inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, and spare parts for kitchen equipment, and purchase minor items as needed to keep the restaurant running smoothly

· Respond promptly to maintenance requests from kitchen and front-of-house staff regarding equipment breakdowns or facility issues, prioritizing urgent kitchen equipment failures that could affect service

· Conduct daily walkthroughs of the restaurant to inspect HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and kitchen equipment (fridges, freezers, stoves, ventilation) to catch issues before they disrupt operations

· Assist licensed tradespersons (electricians, plumbers, HVAC technicians, appliance repair specialists) when they’re on-site for larger repair or installation work

· Monitor and maintain security and safety measures throughout the restaurant, including fire suppression systems, emergency lighting, and exits

· Move furniture, tables, kitchen equipment, and supplies as needed for events, deep cleans, or reorganizing the dining or kitchen space

· Manage and coordinate the work of other maintenance staff, if applicable

 

Our Ideal Candidate Skills & Attributes

·  Secondary school education

·  Hands-on experience with minor repairs to HVAC, plumbing, or electrical systems is preferred

·  Strong analytical thinking — able to assess a problem and figure out the right fix or next step

·  High attention to detail, especially when inspecting building systems or completing repairs

·  Collaborative team player who works well with kitchen and front-of-house staff, as well as outside tradespeople

·   Genuine concern for others — mindful of how facility issues affect staff and guest safety/comfort

·    Able to work independently and use good judgment when management isn’t immediately available

·    Thrives in a fast-paced restaurant environment
