Overview

Job Duties:
– Prepare and delegate the production of food items for a large group of people, including for customers with food allergies and other sensitivities.
– Follow recipes and directions provided by head chef.
– Help oversee kitchen operations and the preparation of food items.
– Supervise, instruct and train subordinate kitchen staff.
– Assist with menu planning and development.
– Demonstrate new cooking techniques and equipment to kitchen staff.
– Open and close the kitchen.
– Comply with guidelines and standard operating procedures.
– Oversee kitchen operations and food service areas to ensure high standards of cleanliness.

Job Requirements:
– Minimum 3 to 5 years of recent work experience as a sous-chef or equivalent at a high-volume restaurant.
– Red seal certification considered an asset.
– Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.
– Ability to multi-task and perform well under pressure.
– Ability to work efficiently with a close attention to detail.
– Willingness to follow direction and be self-initiating when required and appropriate.
– Ability to stand for long periods of time, lift and carry heavy products, reach and stretch.
– Scheduling flexibility, including the ability to work day, evening, night, weekend and holiday shifts.
– Completion of secondary school.
– English language ability.

Job Details:
– $52,000 to $60,000 (commensurate with experience and certifications).
– Full-time (at least 40 hours per week).
– Day, evening, night, weekend and holiday shifts.
– Food discounts provided, in addition to health and dental benefits.
