Overview

Key Responsibilities: 

Your role will be central to my daily life, providing support in a variety of areas. A strong focus on dignity and respect for personal boundaries is essential.

  • Personal Care: Providing assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting, while respecting personal privacy and comfort.
  • Mobility & Exercise Support: Assisting with safe mobility needs such as transferring, positioning, and using mobility aids. You will also provide support with a prescribed stretching and exercise programs.
  • Meal Preparation: Planning and preparing nutritious meals that adhere to specific dietary restrictions. Cooking and assistance with cooking is also a key part of this role.
  • Companionship & Social Support: Offering companionship and support to help me in work functions or recreational activities, ensuring a sense of community and social engagement.
  • Household Management: Maintaining a clean and organized living environment be perfoming housekeeping tasks to ensure a safe and comfortable home.
  • Parent’s Helper: Assisting with parenting tasks to help manage the needs of the household.
  • Pet Care: Being comfortable and friendly with a dog, including assisting with its care as needed.

Qualifications & Experience:

This role is a great fit for individuals who are not only skilled but also eager to learn and grow.

  • Experience: Previous experience in a similar role is a definite asset, but it is not mandatory. We welcome both experienced home support workers and individuals who are eager to start their career in healthcare. Training will be provided to ensure you are confident and capable in your role.
  • Certifications: An NC II certification, CPR and first aid certificate, Food safety certificate or equivalent certification are highly advantageous.
  • Personal Qualities: You must possess strong empathy, compassion, and a genuine desire to help others. Due to heightened sensitivity to odors, the ideal candidate must be mindful of personal hygiene and refrain from wearing strong perfume or fragrances. Excellent communication, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to take initiative on assigned and unassigned tasks are crucial.
  • Physical Fitness: The role requires physical fitness and the ability to safely assist with lifting and transferring as needed (weight: approximately 125 lbs).

Work Schedule and Compensation: 

  • Schedule: This is a full time position requiring a minimum of 30 hours per week. A flexible schedule is needed, and there may be times when overtime is required.
  • Compensation: The salary is based on experience and skills, with a starting wage of $23/hour.
