Private Household seeking a dedicated, compassionate and resourceful Home Support Worker with initiative and a cheerful and pleasant disposition.

Job Title:  Home Support Worker (for High Medical Needs) – NOC 44101

Employer:  Tan Family – Private Household

Work Location:  North Vancouver BC Grouse Mountain area

Salary: $24.50 per hour

Hours: 35-40 hours per week

Term: Permanent, Full-Time

Job Duties:

  • Direct Care: Provide high-level personal assistance, including safe bedside transfers, bathing, and dressing, with a focus on dignity and patient comfort.
  • Health Management: Closely follow and document medication schedules; assist with non-invasive specialized medical equipment as required by the patient’s physician.
  • Nutrition: Prepare and cook customized meals that adhere to strict dietary guidelines for chronic illness management.
  • Physical Support: Assist with prescribed daily physiotherapy exercises and safe mobility within the home.
  • Observation: Vigilantly monitor for physical or cognitive changes and maintain a detailed log for review by family and medical professionals.
  • Sanitization: Ensure the patient’s immediate environment and care equipment are maintained to a high clinical standard of cleanliness.
  • Environmental Hygiene & Support: Maintain a sanitized and organized care environment. Perform light housekeeping specifically related to the patient’s health and safety, including laundering of bed linens/clothing and keeping the patient’s immediate living area clean and hygienic.

Education: Completion of Secondary School is mandatory. A post-secondary certificate or diploma in related field is considered a strong asset.

Experience: Minimum of 1 year of home care experience or having been trained in related field. Knowledge and experience in rehabilitation therapy would be an asset.

Language of work:  English – read, write, and speak fluently

Security: Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check.

Wage, Weekly Hours & Overtime: $24.50 per hour for 35-40 hours per week. Overtime pay at 1.5x after 40 hours/week.

Incremental Raises: A formal wage and performance review will be conducted after 6 months of service. Any increases or bonuses are discretionary and based on performance.

Annual Review: Wages are subject to an annual review to ensure alignment with the current wage standards

Optional accommodation available at no charge on a live-in basis.  Note: This is NOT a condition of employment.

Travel & Relocation: The employer will cover one-way transportation to the work location at the start of employment and provide return transportation to the worker’s permanent residence at the conclusion of the work term.

Vacation:  10 days of paid vacation per year

Health:  Private health insurance provided until BC MSP eligibility is met.
