Private Household seeking a dedicated, compassionate, resourceful and experienced Senior Personal Support & Home Care Worker with initiative, a cheerful and pleasant disposition, and possesses high attention to details.

Title: Senior Personal Support & Home Care Worker (for High Medical Needs) – NOC 44101

Employer:  Tan Family – Private Household

Work Location:  North Vancouver BC Grouse Mountain area

Salary: $37.00 per hour

Hours: 30-35 hours per week

Term: Permanent, Full-Time

Anticipated start date: As soon as possible

Job Duties: 

  • Direct Care: Provide high-level personal care and assistance for patient with high medical needs, including safe bedside transfers, bathing, and dressing, with a focus on dignity and patient comfort and well-being.
  • Health Management: Closely review, follow and document medication schedules; closely review and follow physician’s instructions to assist with non-invasive specialized medical equipment as required by the patient’s physician.
  • Nutrition: Prepare and cook customized meals according to nutrition recommendation for the patient and must adhere to strict dietary guidelines for chronic illness management.
  • Physical Support: Assist with prescribed daily physiotherapy exercises and safe mobility within the home.
  • Observation: Vigilantly monitor for physical or cognitive changes and maintain a detailed log for review by family and medical professionals.
  • Sanitization: Ensure the patient’s immediate environment and care equipment are maintained to a high clinical standard of cleanliness.
  • Environmental Hygiene & Support: Maintain a sanitized and organized care environment. Perform light housekeeping specifically related to the patient’s health and safety, including laundering of bed linens/clothing and keeping the patient’s living area to a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene.
  • Supervision of other home care helpers: Supervise and instruct other home care helpers to strictly observe a high standard of care with primary focus on the well-being and safety of the patient.

Requirements:

  • Education: Completion of Secondary School is mandatory. A post-secondary certificate or diploma in support work or related experience is required for this position.
  • Experience: Minimum 1 year of home care experience for high medical needs.
  • Knowledge: Knowledge in rehabilitation therapy, First Aid, Food Safety and WHMS will be strong assets.
  • Language: English – read, write, and speak fluently.
  • Security: Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check.

Wage, Hours & Benefits:

  • Wage: $37.00 per hour. Overtime pay at 1.5x after 40 hours/week.
  • Hours: 30–35 hours per week.
  • Benefits: WorkSafeBC coverage; 10 days paid vacation.
